Bridging the Divide

Administering an adult education quality management system is often a challenging process. The interchangeable terms of ‘compliance’ versus ‘quality’ can present unique connotations to different stakeholders. I have formerly established and coordinated the quality management system of a large state government registered training organisation and I often observed the divide between the teaching faculty and the importance of responding to our legislative obligations in accordance with the Standards for Registered Training Organisations, 2015. Over several years I discreetly interchanged the term ‘compliance’ with ‘quality’ to observe the response……………in time I raised the white flag and settled for the phrase Registered Training Organisation ‘governance’!
